Locker & Pick-up

We know that some students left a whole lot of “stuff” in their lockers before Spring Break while others didn’t leave behind much at all! You are NOT required to come to locker pick-up if you would prefer to maintain social distance for everyone’s safety, and any unclaimed items will be recycled or disposed of, as appropriate. We are offering four opportunities for families to come to Heartland to pick up and drop off items. Each Tuesday, April 28th to May 19th, we will have volunteer staff available to help coordinate the pick-up of items from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. No one will be allowed to enter the building as we will have staff members retrieve items for you. We will only be able to collect items from the lockers and won’t be able to get extra items from teacher classrooms. It is important to note that any items not retrieved by the end of May 19th will be disposed of by school personnel.

In order to assist us in planning for the task of safely and efficiently collecting items from students’ lockers with limited staff, we ask that everyone complete this quick form for each student who attends Heartland, even if you do not plan to come to the school on any of the days available. The “student locker” is optional and very helpful to us. It is available in Infinite Campus but we will be able to look it up on site, if necessary. For athletic lockers, please email Dr. Harsha for information and directions.

What to Drop Off

Many students also still need to return cleaned uniforms, books, instruments, athletic gear, or student IDs. You may need to come to Heartland to drop off those items even if you do not wish to pick up the contents of your student’s locker. Required items not returned may result in a fine being assessed to your student’s account that will need to be cleared before schedules are distributed in the fall. All current fines and fees can be paid through InTouch or by check dropped off at the school. Again, please remember that you DO NOT have to pick up locker contents but all student IDs, library books, activity uniforms and musical instruments are required to be turned in to avoid fines. Chromebooks and chargers are not being collected at this time. Bins will also be available for drop-off only on Mondays and Thursdays inside the main entry foyer starting April 27 through May 19th.

What To Expect On Tuesdays

In order to ensure the safety of all, please be prepared to follow these expectations on each Tuesday:

  • Wait in your vehicle in the front bus loop (near the front doors) until school staff ask for your student’s name, grade, locker number, and items needed and/or returning. They will also provide additional instructions for pick-up or drop-off. Items will be in bags and will be handed to someone in the car or placed in the backseat or trunk of your vehicle.
  • Items will only be retrieved from the locker assigned to the student.
  • For those who come to pick up student medications, please be prepared to show identification and ensure that you are listed as a contact for the student. We will only be able to check out medication to an adult.
  • We will have bins near the vehicle lane for quick drop-off of all clean & labeled uniforms, student IDs and other drop-off items. Simply wait until staff have met with you, and then you will be able to drop your items in the labeled bins.
  • At this time, we are not collecting Chromebooks or chargers.
  • It is also important to take social distancing very seriously. Please maintain all safety precautions at all times, for everyone’s safety.

If you or someone living with you have symptoms, feel ill, have a fever, or have been exposed to COVID-19, please do not come to school. Your safety, as well as the safety of those working, remains our top priority.
