Shane Hohn was named Heartland’s 2025 Teacher of the Year.
Lead Principal Veronica Johnson describes Mr. Hohn as “the absolute best of the best! He is a FANTASTIC 7th grade science teacher who serves as a 7th grade team lead and a co-chair for our Foundations team. Mr. Hohn is the epitome of what it means to be a Thunderhawk and a phenomenal representative of the amazing teachers we have at Heartland Middle School!”
Assistant Principal Laura Brown states, “Shane Hohn is an incredibly talented teacher dedicated to his students' success. He makes science fun and engaging for middle schoolers. Students often tell me that their favorite class has been 7th grade Science. When I ask them what they like about it, it never fails that they say, "Mr. Hohn!" We are so lucky to have him at Heartland.”

Mr. Hohn graduated from Tuttle High School in 2016. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2020 through the OSUTeach program where he earned his Biology degree. During college, Mr. Hohn was able to experience a variety of classrooms across Oklahoma and quickly fell in love with teaching.
Mr. Hohn began his teaching career at Heartland as a seventh-grade science teacher and is now in his fifth year in the position.
Mr. Hohn has been happily married for four years. His wife spent three years as executive director of Project 66, a needs-based food and resource center in Edmond.
During the summers, Mr. Hohn works for his father's window screen company, and he’s been working for him ever since he could hold a screwdriver.
Mr. Hohn is currently pursuing his master's in educational leadership from Arkansas State University.
He volunteers often at his church Northwest Baptist in the youth group and men's ministry.
Fun Facts about Mr. Hohn!
Hidden talent: Mr. Hohn participated in collegiate eSports Rocket League, competing for OSU.
Hobbies: In his spare time, Mr. Hohn enjoys playing disc golf, building computers, and playing chess (and even competes in chess tournaments)!
Favorite subjects in school: When he was in middle school, Mr. Hohn’s favorite subjects were Science and Social Studies.
Favorite place he’s traveled to: His uncle has a ranch on the Yellowstone River in Montana that he has visited every year since childhood.
